I'm Aireus Robinson — a filmmaker and narrative designer focused on promoting cultural unity through third-spaces. I'm based in Chicago, studying Film Production at DePaul, and running spacebar//LABS, a creative operations studio for emerging artists.
SLATED came out of a problem I saw within my localized group of DJs here in Chicago. There was no clean way to connect venues with the right people — it was all word of mouth, DMs, and missed opportunities. I built this to fix that.
Chicago has a deep DJ culture — underground rooms, residencies, rooftop parties, late nights at bars that care about what's playing. But the booking process is broken. Venues don't know who to call, DJs don't have a clean way to get in front of the right rooms, and most of the connections happen through whoever happens to know whoever.
SLATED is a concierge model, not a marketplace. You submit what you need, I match it manually from a roster of DJs I know and trust. No algorithm, no bidding, no platform tax. Just placement that makes sense for the room.
Right now, SLATED is built for Chicago venues — bars, clubs, event spaces, rooftops, private events — that need a DJ and want someone who fits the night. On the other side, it's for DJs in my network who are actively looking for bookings and ready to work.
The roster is small on purpose. I'd rather have ten DJs I can vouch for than a hundred I can't.
When I send a DJ to a venue, my name is attached to that. The invite-only model isn't gatekeeping — it's accountability. Every person on the roster is someone I've either worked with, seen perform, or can personally vouch for.
If you're a DJ in Chicago and you think you should be on here, reach out. If the fit is right, we'll talk.
Interested in joining the roster, partnering with the platform, or just want to talk shop? The best way to reach me is Instagram or email. I check both.
